About the Author

I am an emerging author from Brisbane/Meanjin, who can sometimes talk a mile a minute. I prefer winter over summer, am a master of the perfect crowd-pleasing playlist, and enjoy a slow-paced hike.

I am an award-winning horror short story author and am currently working on my debut gothic novel set in the Blue Mountains. My writing obsessions are transgressive, feminist body horror in short fiction and film, climate crisis fiction, and the middle-aged experience through poetry.

My works have appeared in in Midnight Echo, Polyhymnia, Grim and Gilded, Quel signore in salottoClose to Heaven (a Stringybark Stories publication), and Words'worth, the journal of the Queensland English Teachers Association.

I am a keen bean for opportunities to perform my spoken works!

I’m studying my Masters of Writing, Editing and Publishing at the University of Queensland. To pay the bills, I have taught in public high schools for 22 years teaching Literature, and am a nationally-classified Highly Accomplished Teacher. I love this job, but it is hard. I am fiercely defensive of state education and believe its quality is being eroded before our eyes with a growing two-tier system in Australia.

Inspired by writers such as Angela Carter, Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, and local gals Briohny Doyle, Laura Jean McKay, Charlotte Wood and Mandy Beaumont. Mostly, I am consistently wowed by my senior Literature students who create the most magnificent and jaw-dropping works, and who inspire me daily to continue to experiment with my own writing.

In the initial stages of an arts production company. Let's watch the ADHD in action.

In case that wasn't enough, I love weightlifting and also dabble in perfumery. If it were no object, I would study perfumery in Grasse in the mornings, drink gin overlooking snow in the afternoons, and practice falconry in Scotland in the gloaming.

I think I’m finally becoming the person my eighteen-year-old self envisioned, but perhaps with less posturing and insecure defensiveness.

Now? I am poised and fearless.
